Delta Dental of California and P&R Dental Strategies Partner to integrate DentaQual® Dentist Quality Rating System into Delta Dental’s Dentist Directory Listings

DentaQual Is the First Objective Rating System for Oral Health Care That Showcases the Quality of Care Delta Dental of California Network Dentists Provide to Their Patients

HAMILTON, NJ, September 1, 2021 — P&R Dental Strategies is proud to announce its partnership with Delta Dental of California. Delta Dental of California members across 15 states and the District of Columbia may have noticed new quality star ratings as they search for an in-network dental provider. As of April 1st, 2021 P&R has been providing objective DentaQual scores for display in Delta Dental of California’s online network dentist directory. Delta Dental of California includes affiliates Delta Dental Insurance Company, Delta Dental of Pennsylvania, Delta Dental of New York, Inc., and the national DeltaCare USA network.

DentaQual is the first-ever truly objective dental quality rating system. Using data from DentaBase^®, P&R Dental Strategies’ database of anonymized and aggregated claims from more than 70 national and regional oral health benefit payers, dentists are scored on key metrics including treatment outcomes, commitment to best practices, cost-effectiveness and more. DentaQual compares a dentist’s score to the average scores of their peers in the same specialty and geography, creating an overall star rating for each dentist.

DentaQual star ratings empower patients with transparent, objective information on the care being provided by dentists in their area. As interest for objective quality scores grows among dental patients, employers, and insurance payers — DentaQual provides independent third-party quality information for these groups.
